Yet Another Year-Ender

I’ll be flying off to Bacolod on the 29th to spend the New Year there. Another five days without Internet and cable TV. Shit. I think it’s time to go to my suki DVD pirata. Man, I’m gonna need a lot of DVDs if I want to hold on to my sanity for the three days I’m going to spend in Bacolod and Dumaguete.

There’s usually this certain kind of excitement that I feel whenever we’re going to Dumaguete but it’s been missing for the past year. Oh wait, I do have a reason to be excited nga pala. Scooby’s na ‘to!


1. What did you do in 2004 that you’d never done before?
Saved enough money to buy Christmas gifts for my parents.

2. Did you keep your new years’ resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I didn’t have any because I had a feeling I wouldn’t be able to keep them.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
My two cousins-in-law gave birth but we’re not close so…

4. Did anyone close to you die?
My mom’s brother-in-law (sige na nga, tito ko) died but we’re not close din… Haha.

5. What countries did you visit?
Wasn’t able to go abroad this year.

6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
Determination to get good grades. My 2nd term grades sucked.

7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I forgot the exact date but it was the third week of November.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Going back to school.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not being there for my parents when they needed me the most.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Broke my right ankle, twice.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
Lomo!

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
Mom’s. The woman never ceases to amaze me.

13. Whose behaviour appalled you and made you depressed?
My dad’s family’s. As always.

14. Where did most of your money go?
DVDs, video games, clothes and shoes.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Boracay trip with my cousins.

Studying.

Sulking.

Spent Christmas with my titas, tito, cousins, nephews and nieces from mom’s side of the family.

Absofuckinglutely.

Nada. Nil. Zilch.

CSI and CSI: Miami pa din.

25. Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
Nope.

The Messianic Legacy. Go ahead and kill me now.

27. What was your greatest musical discovery?
My parents’ music collection. Everything from the Beatles to Motown to the Ratpack. Even stuff from Joni Mitchell, The Eagles, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel, Gary Lewis and the Playboys, Sergio Mendes and marami pang iba.

28. What did you want and get?
Lomo!

29. What did you want and not get?
A Mac. Haha.

30. Favorite film of this year?
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Went shopping with Mom and had a great Japanese dinner at Haiku with my parents.

32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Losing the unwanted pounds.

33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Vintage shirts, worn out denim pants and old skool sneakers.

34. What kept you sane?
Weekends spent with my parents. Few and far between but still.

Frank Lampard.

National election.

Mom.

Blockmates! Group gid, di lang person.
